HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TEAM - Coach Jason Geer reports that the Grove Girl’s Golf Team finished tied for 4th in their recent Regional’s match (just one place from placing the team in state playoffs). Wait until next year!

Jason and I are both very proud to report that Grove’s Olivia Anderson placed qualified individually and will play in the state tournament. The state tournament is at Lake Hefner Golf Course in OKC on May 6th and 7th. Jason reports that this will conclude their quality and fun year

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TEAM - Coach Doug Winters tell me that he has a report about ready and will be in this article very soon.

MID-SCHOOL GOLFERS - As Sandy Busch (Tyler’s Mom) puts it, “we may have a state championship team in the works”.

Pryor Tournament: The Mid School Boys won this tournament.

Trae  Fairchild (sorry, I misspelled his name last week), Tyler Busch, Jared Perryman, Mike Boone and Levi Kerr represented Grove. Trae shot a 78 and

Tyler a 79, and the others did well enough to win the tournament. I’m thinking “these guys are good”.

Muskogee Tournament-last week:

The boys did not win this one but they were “in the hunt”; Tyler Busch 81, Trae Fairchild 92, Levi Kerr 100, Caylan Kippers 106. Teams playing were Grove, Tulsa Union, Bixby, Tahlequah, Muskogee, Pryor. Broken Arrow, Tulsa Edison. There were 77 players. Although Tyler Busch placed 7th, he was only 4 shots off of 1st place. It was reported that the Grove players were respectful to adults and other players and carried themselves very well. I know most of these players and I am very proud of them.

GOLF TIP of the WEEK

Just a friendly reminder. Neck deep in “the Native Grass” searching for your ball? Let the group behind you play through when you realize you won’t soon find it. And remember, you’re allowed only five minutes to look under the Rules. If you are a beginner, it is OK to pick your ball up and carry it to the green if you haven’t reached the green in 6 or 7 shots. The best thing a beginner can do is try to keep up with the group that is in front of them. No one can complain about you that way.

True Confessions Of A Golfer

A man goes to the confessional. "Forgive me father, for I have sinned." "What is your sin, my child?" the priest asks back. “Well," the man starts, "I used some horrible language this week and I feel absolutely terrible."When did you do use this awful language?" said the priest. "I was golfing and hit an incredible drive that looked like it was going to go over 250 yards, but it struck a phone line that was hanging over the fairway and fell straight down to the ground after going only about 100 yards." "Is that when you swore?" "No, Father." Said the man. "After that, a squirrel ran out of the bushes and grabbed my ball in his mouth and began to run away." "Is THAT when you swore?" asked the priest again.

"Well, no," said the man, "You see, as the squirrel was running, an eagle came down out of the sky, grabbed the squirrel in his talons and began to fly away!"

"Is THAT when you swore?" asked the amazed priest. "No, not yet." The man replied. "As the eagle carried the squirrel away in his claws, it flew towards the green. And as it passed over a bit of forest near the green, the squirrel dropped my ball." "Did you swear THEN?" asked the now impatient priest.

"No, because as the ball fell it struck a tree, bounced through some bushes, careened off a big rock, and rolled through a sand trap onto the green and stopped within six inches of the hole."

“Don’t’ tell me, You missed the %#$*& putt, didn't you?" sighed the priest
