The JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, & Sportsmanship) Field Days event is scheduled for May 16 in Grove from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Registration for JAKES will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the event and is open to the first 600 participants.

The event will be held one mile south of Honey Creek Bridge on Highway 59. Turn East on Stand Watie Road and follow the signs. There is also a large billboard just before Stand Watie Road on Highway 59.

JAKES is free to all children 17 years of age and under. The purpose of the event is to allow youths to experience topics such as gun safety, archery, boating, and other outdoor activities in a controlled environment under the supervision of knowledgeable adults.

A free lunch will also be provided to day campers.
