Area prep baseball Friday: Dewey wins pair

Dewey High School dusted off two foes — by a combined score of 21-5 — during an explosive Friday showing at the Adair Tournament.

Following is a roundup of how area teams fared on Friday:

Dewey 11, Adair junior varsity 1: Bulldogger pitcher Hayden Wood allowed just two hits and struck out four batters to shut down Adair. Brendon Timmons’ bat did most the rest — a grand slam. He finished with five RBI’s for the game, followed by Chase Revard with two singles and three RBI’s. Bryce Weathers and Wood each contributed one RBI.

Dewey 10, Keys 4: Corbin Buford and Blake Timmons smacked a double apiece to fuel the Dogger attack. Brendon Timmons contributed two RBIs — on two sacrifice flies — and Revard and Blake Timmons scored three runs apiece. Weathers and Buford split pitching time. Weathers threw 4.2 innings of four-hit, five-strikeout ball. Buford came in the game to record the final out.

Rejoice Christian 8, Caney Valley 0: Caney Valley had little reason to celebrate its showdown against Rejoice Christian, in the semifinals of the Barnsdall tournament. Trent Gagan whittled off a single for Caney Valleys lone hit. Chase Brim also received a walk and Kollin Francis reached on an error. Erick McLaughlin pitched the distance for Caney Valley. Only four of Rejoice Christian’s run were earned.
