A food drive is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8, at Buffalo Shores South, to help needy families of Delaware County. Residents and members of the public may drop off food items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club, 1628 Pine Drive, Grove. Donated items will be delivered to the Grove Christian H.E.L.P. Center for distribution.
The food drive is sponsored by the Buffalo Shores South Property Owners Association (POA) and the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club. For the past five years, the two neighborhood organizations have collaborated in the effort to help needy families.
Staff at t.he H.E.L.P. Center have said the most needed items include canned tomatoes, dry cereal, canned green beans, cooking oil, canned beans, sugar, powdered milk, flour, water-packed fruit, sugar-free Jello, instant potatoes, peanut butter, pasta, baby food and formula, and diapers. Plastic grocery bags are useful as well. Monetary donations also are welcomed. Checks made out to the Christian H.E.L.P. Center may be dropped off at the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club during the food drive and will be delivered to the center.
POA Executive Manager Lynne Green said, “The need seems to grow each year. It’s especially important to help out as we go into the winter season. Through the generosity of Buffalo Shores residents, we expect to deliver many bags of food to the H.E.L.P. Center for distribution to those in need.”
