BROKEN ARROW - Despite the COVID-19 pandemic bringing an end to almost all sports, some baseball continued to be played in Delaware County.

Players from throughout Delaware County played on the Grove Ganders team and play they did.

The team won the 12UAA East State Championship in Broken Arrow this past weekend.

A total of 24 teams competed in the tournament and the Ganders dominated the weekend with a 5-0 tournament record, capping off the final championship game with a 5-2 win.

The team racked up a total of 13 homeruns during the tournament, including five home runs from Lake Burnett from Commerce, OK.

The team is coached by Matt Petty, Kacey Threet and Josh West, and has coached this team since T-Ball years.

The Ganders are a solid team and have won the State Championship two times in the last three years.
