JAY - On Monday, May 11, administrators at Jay Public Schools announced a tentative graduation date for the Jay High School Class of 2020.
In a statement on Facebook, JPS Superintendent Larry Shackleford said:
"After careful consideration the Senior Sponsors and Administration have decided to tentative hold formal graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020 on July 25 at 10 a.m. at Jay B. Earp Stadium. In case of inclement weather a secondary date of August 1, 2020 is scheduled. We will continue to keep you updates as we receive more guidance from Federal and State agencies regarding COVID-19. We will plan accordingly to keep the safety and well-being of our students, parents and staff a priority."
While JPS has scheduled the tentative dates for a physical graduation, the previously planned virtual ceremony will still be pre-recorded and posted on May 15.
