“Life is full of challenges; fishing is only one, but the best one.”

I guess folks grabbed a copy of the Grove Sun last week and took the recommendation to go fishing to heart because the number of anglers out in the middle of the week reminded me of a summer situation. There’s nothing wrong with that and I hope everyone caught fish.

Grand Lake is clearing up. We fished from the Elk River down to Horse Creek and found the water to have 2’ visibility depending on location. Further south was a bit turbid. Lake temperatures are averaging 65 degrees, and the water level is around 743’ unless the weather changes.

Black bass are shallow on plastics, use the standard colors like watermelon or green pumpkin. I’m going to start using my methiolate colored worms here in the next couple weeks, I’ll let you know how it goes. Crappie fishing is awesome right now. Minnows seem to be the preferred bait in and around docks.

Until next time, keep your bait in the water. Clint Baranowski
