Easter is usually a time for us to gather together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over sin and death. We’re used to churches filled with people to hear the gospel, families coming together to share a meal, and kids hunting for eggs.
This Easter, our country is facing an unprecedented public health crisis. Our world looks very different now than it did just a couple months ago. While we may not be able to celebrate with our usual ways, we still can be showing friends, neighbors and even total strangers the light of Christ and the hope that can be found in Him.
The meaning of Easter can be seen in the acts of people across Oklahoma’s Second District. People have sewn masks for health care workers. Volunteers have taken time to deliver meals to students and seniors in need. Communities have come together to support one another and keep each other safe.
All the uncertainty surrounding this crisis can turn what should be joy into fear. I encourage you to not let the fear overtake you. Through these difficult times it is important to keep our eyes focused on fulfilling God’s call to us: to be the light of Christ in the world.
May God bless you and your family this Easter.
