CLAREMORE - The Lady Red basketball team finished their strong regular season with another victory. This time the Lady Zebras from Claremore were a 61-37 victim. The win gives the Lady Red a record of 19-3.

Against Claremore, the Lady Red started the game quickly jumping out to a 2-0 lead and never looking back. Mikalle Pair caught the ball on the left wing and threw it across the lane to Elizabeth Cash at the elbow. Cash then threw a pass to Kolby Boyett who had her girl pinned on the block for an easy basket.
On the next possession, Boyett used a strong post move to clear the defense and score two more points for the Lady Red. The Lady Red continued to dominate the early part of the game going up 10-0 before the Lady Zebras scored a basket.
At the end of the first half, the score was 34-14 in favor of the Lady Red. They shot 62.5 percent on the night nearly setting the nets on fire. Of their 66 points, 32 were scored inside the paint. They also outrebounded Claremore 31-15 while forcing 20 turnovers.
The Lady Red had three girls score in the double-digits. Rory Geer paced the team with 24 while grabbing 6 rebounds. Geer also had 1 assist and 5 steals. Pair had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Boyett had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 blocked shot. Anna Bacon had 4 points off the bench for the Lady Red. She also was able to record 2 rebounds. Cash had 3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocked shots. Dawn Blake had 2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 blocked shot. Megan Gibbs had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Baylee Gregg had 1 point, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Emily Blaine and Kaylee Shepherd both recorded minutes but no counting stats.
The Lady Red will begin their run at a state title on Friday, February 21, when the team hosts the Miami Lady Wardogs at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of District play. Miami is 6-15 on the season and lost to Grove 66-21 in the Vinita tournament back on December 12.
