Nick and Violet Nichols, of Grove, will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary with an open house from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, at the Club House near their home. Nick Nichols and Violet Grimes were married on February 29, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa. The couple was married on Leap Year, and have technically only celebrated a total of 18 anniversaries on their true wedding day. The Nichols resided in Ottumwa most of their lives before moving to Grove, OK in 2000. Nick worked most of his career for David Carpenter at Home Oil and they were very active in Square Dancing, Nick calling and teaching many classes. The couple also spent many winters in south Texas as the caller for Alamo Recreation Park.

The Nichols have three children, Robert Nichols of Topeka, KS; Vicki and Stephen Wall of Broken Arrow, OK; and Ronald and Karen Nichols of Astor, FL. They have 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
