GROVE - The final home game for the 2019-2020 Lady Red basketball team took place on Tuesday, February 11.

The senior night festivities were punctuated with a win for Grove seniors Elizabeth Cash and Mikalle Pair.

Grove 65, Pryor 20

Less than a month ago these two teams met and while the outcome remained the same, a win for the Lady Red, the score was much different. Grove was able to best the Lady Tigers by 45 points in this second meeting, which is more than they scored as a team during the 41-33 win from January.

The Lady Red started the game with Rory Geer and Cash scoring seven and six respectively and the defense completely stopping Pryor from scoring.

That scoring streak would continue into the second quarter, where Grove again scored 13. This time Geer and Cash both had four, Baylee Gregg and Pair had two and Anna Bacon had one from the line. Pryor found two opportunities to score from beyond the arc and the halftime score was 26-6.

Going into the third saw 20 more points added to the Lady Red's side of the score board, nearly doubling their score, but also saw Pryor add seven of their own.

In the fourth quarter, Grove Head Coach Richard Bassett cleared his bench, with all ten players getting minutes, while scoring 19 in the quarter. The Lady Tigers scored seven more points, going 7 for 12 from the line.

Geer led the Lady Red in scoring with 17 points. Cash had 15, Pair had nine, Gregg had seven, Kolby Boyett had six, Bacon had four, Kaylee Shepherd had three and Megan Gibbs and Emily Blaine both had two. The only player not to score was point guard Dawn Blake, who effectively assisted on both offense and defense.

The Lady Red are now 17-3 on the season, with two games remaining. Friday, February 14, Grove will be on the road at Glenpool and Monday, February 17, the team will play in Claremore. Post regular season, the Lady Red will play in the Area Tournament. Brackets for the tournament had not been released at the time of press.
