GROVE - The 2020 Grand Lake Youth Art Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18.
The show is hosted by Brush and Palette Art Gallery, who are a member of the Grove Springs Cultural District, and will be held at the Grove Community Center, located at 104 W. 3rd St. in Grove.
The details for the show are as follows:
There are four categories of art, drawing, painting, sculptures/3D and computer generated. Each artist is allowed one entry per category. Drawing includes ink, pencil, colored pencil and crayon art, painting includes acrylic, pastel oil and watercolor art, sculptures/3D includes papier-mache, baskets, weaving, sculptures and beadwork, while computer generated art includes collages, digital and mixed media creations.
Artwork should have a backing, whether cardboard, foam or mat board. Artists are asked not to mount the pictures in frames, but to include two 3x5 cards per piece with the name of the artist, grade, name of school, art teacher, name of the piece, category and price, if the piece is for sale.
Judging will take place on Friday, April 17 and awards will be posted that evening. Ribbons will be awarded to artists in kindergarten through twelfth grade for entries placing first, second and third. Cash will be awarded to artists in eighth grade and up. A cash prize for Best of Show will also be awarded, as well as for the People's Choice Award.
A reception for the artists, instructors, parents and general public will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 2-6 p.m.
All artwork, excluding sculptures, must be brought to the Brush and Palette Gallery located at 18 W. 4th in Grove on one of the four receiving days. Times and dates for receiving are Wednesday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday April 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sculptures must be delivered to the Community Center on Thursday, April 16. Those entering sculptures must call the gallery at 918-786-9698.
All artwork must be picked up by 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.
