“The water you touch in a river is the last of that which has passed and the first of which is coming; thus it is with time.” - Leonardo DaVicinci

Let’s get ready for another spectacular season fishing on Grand Lake. The last time I looked we have at least 40 tournaments on this special fishery, and even in the cooler months the fish still bite. Water temperatures remain in the mid to low 40’s and the lake level is stable in the 744 range. Color is mixed depending on location as a result of the recent unpredictable weather patterns.

If asked I would recommend spoonbill angling right now. It’s a great way to take the family out for an adventure that puts smiles on everyone’s face. Big fish, lots of fun. We have several guides that are experts in making your trip rewarding. Stop in at Grand Lake Sports Center or Honey Creek Outdoors for more information.

Big crappie are being caught on jigs and minnows in lake brush piles and around docks, and the black bass bite continues to produce on small plastics and Alabama rigs. You have to work the bite but patience will pay off. I have not heard about the white bass bite but it’s only a matter of time before these fish will begin running up river.

Until next time, keep your bait in the water. Clint Baranowski
