COWETA, Okla. - The Lady Red played a tight game, but fell to the eleventh-ranked 5A Coweta Lady Tigers.

Coweta 63, Grove 54

The game was played Tuesday, January 28 in Coweta, a final score of 63-54 in favor of the Lady Tigers. Coweta was able to avenge an early season loss against the Lady Red in Grove.

Both teams battled back and forth in the first half. The score at halftime favored Coweta 27-25. Coweta was able to open up a 10-point lead late in the third quarter but the Lady Red were able to fight back to within one. Baylee Gregg stole an errant pass then moved the ball ahead to Rory Geer who found Elizabeth Cash for a backside layup.

Coweta came right back down the floor hitting a three-pointer. After Grove split a pair of free throws, Coweta added two more points to make the score 53-48.

Despite making 20 free throws in the game, the Lady Red missed two more free throws and the game slowly started to slip away despite their best efforts to keep it close. As a team, Grove shot 39.5 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range.

Cash lead the Lady Red with 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Geer had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Mikalle Pair had 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kolby Boyett added 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Anna Bacon had 5 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Gregg had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Dawn Blake had 2 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Megan Gibbs added 2 assists for the Lady Red.

The loss gives Grove the team's third loss on the season making the overall record 12-3. The Lady Red will get back in action Friday, January 31, facing another top ten 5A talent when they travel to Tahlequah to face the ninth-ranked team, the Lady Tigers.
