Two Delaware County detention officers are under investigation.
Five inmates currently held in the jail have reported being "drive stunned" with a Taser. Of the inmates involved, some say that they were curious to how it felt to be tased while others claim to have been coerced.
Officials within the jail are conducting interviews with both inmates and other detention officers. Sheriff Harlan Moore says that the surveillance video shows something happening, but that the details are still being sorted out. When the investigation is closed, Moore says that the full findings will be given to the District Attorney's Office for review.
"The use of a taser is only authorized when a situation would require the use to restrain an individual or during training," said Moore. "Detention officers are provided certified training on the proper use of a taser."
The two detention officers, one male and one female, are suspended without pay. No names have been released.
