The City of Grove will be hosting an open house during the annual Christmas Parade and festivities to give residents another opportunity to participate in developing the City’s comprehensive plan update. Residents will be able to provide feedback on the visions and goals for Grove included in the plan, which will guide Grove’s decision making and development for the next 20 years.

The open house will be at Grove City Hall on Saturday, December 14, from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

The team is now working to define clear goals and objectives that will guide the City towards reaching its vision. At the open house, residents can walk through displays and provide feedback on these two very important aspects of the plan. Staff from the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), a nonprofit organization that is assisting Grove with the update, will be at the open house to chat with residents.

“The vision and goals are really what drives the comprehensive plan and the future of Grove as a whole,” says IBTS Community Development Manager Doug Moore. “We’re really hoping to get as much input as possible from the community to make sure the plan gives citizens the future they envision.”

Community input ensures the plan update integrates the visions and goals that are most important to Grove residents. The community can also provide feedback on what they think the future of Grove looks like through an online visual survey, which asks residents to rate a series of images based on their visual preferences for various community features.

These activities follow several other public input opportunities, including an open house in October, where residents shared their thoughts and recommendations for Grove’s vision statement, its values, areas of interest, and future. This input was used to inform the vision and goals statements currently under review. Residents also participated in a community visioning survey, held in July, to share feedback on Grove’s values and aspirations for the future.

The City of Grove is partnering with IBTS to complete the comprehensive planning process. IBTS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on strengthening communities and has worked with local communities across Oklahoma and the country on developing and updating their comprehensive plans.
