The Grove Ridgerunners had a rough time at home when hosting the sixth-ranked Bristow Pirates on Thursday, October 17.

Grove's defense was overrun in the first half and the Ridgerunner offense was unable to make up the deficit.

The Pirates started the first quarter with three touchdowns in three minutes. The first drive resulted in a touchdown run by DJ Overstreet and a two point conversion on a pass from Overstreet to Cord Dobrinski. Stephon Tolon intercepted a pass from Grove's Carson Trimble and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. The third touchdown was a 24 pass from Tolon to Overstreet. The Pirates wrapped up the first quarter with a 35 yard field goal from Patrick Lupp, making the score 25-0.

The second quarter began with Bristow snapping the ball out of the end zone, giving the Ridgerunners their first points of the game. Grove was able to convert on the next possession with a 7 yard pass from Trimble to Cole Buchholz. Nick Allsup's kick was good and the score became 25-9.

The Pirates retook the offensive and score a running touchdown via Tolon and another via Jake Boomer. Both extra points were good and the half ended with a score of 39-9.

Bristow had a final touchdown in the third, a one yard run from Luke Miller. Grove scored the final touchdown of the game, a 14 yard run from Kadian Forbis, making the final score 45-16.

Grove had 170 rushing yards and 52 passing yards, making a total of 222 offensive yards on the night. Bristow had 330 rushing yards and 30 passing yards for a total of 360 offensive yards. The Ridgerunners had a single penalty for 15 yards, while the Pirates had six penalties for 65 yards.

Grove's Trimble was 6 of 19 on the night with three interceptions and a touchdown.

Forbis led the rushing yards with 15 yards for 63 yards and one touchdown. Matt Bush had nine carries for 33 yards. Emmanuel Crawford had eight carries for 53 yards. Trimble had six carries for 11 yards.

Buchholz led the receivers with three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown. Bush had two catches for 22 yards. Crawford had one reception for nine yards.

Grove will now hit the road to play the 5-2 Cleveland Tigers on Friday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
