Grove's cross country team has finished their regular season with the 2019 Claremore Zebra Cross Country Meet.
The meet was held on Thursday, October 3 and both the varsity teams and the junior high teams raced.
Junior High Girls
Only two girls raced in the two mile run, taking on a field of 237 athletes.
Abbigail Shobe finished with a time of 16:26.84 to place 148 and Hailey Iliff ran a 17:29.21 to finish in 177.
Junior High Boys
The junior high boys team finished in twelfth overall with a score of 307. Owasso won the meet with 66 points, followed by Tahlequah (88), Bartlesville (93), Glenpool (102), Jenks (143), Regent Preparatory (168), Coweta (192), Ponca City (231), Holland Hall (265), Cleora (268), Claremore (283), Bixby (312), Collinsville (314), Pryor (446), Wagoner (488) and Wister (512). There were 242 athletes in the two mile race.
Jaxon Tuner led the Ridgerunners with a time of 12:48.99 to place 40, followed by Jase McAbee in 41 with a time of 12:49.21. Lane Stewart placed 47, running a 12:58.64. Dakota Morgan finished with a time of 14:11.92 to place 107. Chris Johnson (14:43.92), Landon Snyder (15:06.97), Isaiah Iliff (15:25.50) and Ethan Morgan (19:22.61) placed 136, 145, 158 and 230 respectively.
Three Grove athletes raced in the 5K, taking part in the field of 64 runners.
Rory Geer finished in fourth overall with a time of 20:32.04. Katelyn Cohea placed 19 with a time of 22:36.98. Jazzmine Aguire ran a 24:18.83 to place 41.
The varsity boys placed fourteenth as team, earning 350 points in the 5K race. Bartlesville won the meet with 51 points, followed by Oklahoma Christian (70), Claremore (96), Collinsville (178), Booker T. Washington (185), Thomas Edison (189), Owasso (223), McAlester (252), Pryor (282), Glenpool (296), Chourteau-Mazie (302), Wagoner (306), Ponca City (315), Manifold (443), Keys (446) Skiatook (452), Wister (461), Catoosa (473) and Miami (583).
Out of 159 athletes, Grove's had five compete. Jackson Kernan finished in 16, running a 17:42.54. Ryan McAbee finished at 18:40.22 to place 46. Dakota Rickey placed 65 by running a 19:20.99. Nick Brown (21:08.72) and Dalton Davis (21:23.96) to place 117 and 124, respectively.
The cross country teams are now headed to the Metro Lakes Conference in Pryor at Rogers State University on Tuesday, October 15. The varsity girls will kick off the races, starting at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity boys at 4:30 p.m., the junior high girls at 5 p.m. and the junior high boys at 5:30 p.m.
