Northeast Oklahoma Community Action Agency celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Monday, September 30, 2019 at their headquarters in Jay.
The agency was incorporated as a not for profit community action agency in 1969. Ottawa and Craig counties were the original grantees until 1973 when Delaware County joined. The agency’s service area increased to five counties in 2011 with the addition of Adair and Cherokee counties.
NEOCAA serves the five counties by offering Early Head Start programs and child care, Prescription Assistance, Emergency Services, Weatherization, Affordable Housing, Home Rehabilitation, free tax preparation, and health insurance assistance from a Navigator advocate. In addition, the agency operates a gardens and greenhouse business called “Produce and Posies”.

Josh West, Chief Ron Sparkman of the Shawnee Tribe, Chevelle Galbreath from the HOME program office of HUD, Senator Wayne Shaw, Michael Jones, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Association of Community Action Agencies, Johnny Earp, Chairman of the Board for the Northeast Oklahoma Regional Alliance, and Senator Michael Bergstrom.
