During the game against Webb City, on Monday, September 30, sophomore infielder Lauren Outhier collided with another player. At 2:30 a.m. Outhier’s mother, Debbie, rushed her to the emergency room in Grove. While at the ER, Outhier had a CT scan which showed a skull fracture and brain bleed.

Due to the serious nature of the injury, Outhier was life flighted to St. Francis, where emergency surgery was performed to relieve the swelling of the brain. Shortly after the surgery, Outhier was in good humor and talking normally.

Outhier has been released from the hospital and is believed to be able to return to school in approximately a week.
