A jury trial for a Grove man accused of raping a 9-year-old girl begins on Tuesday, October 1.

Darwin Todd Huddleston, 22, of Grove is charged in Delaware County District Court in Jay with first-degree rape by instrumentation and lewd exhibition, both felonies.

Huddleston, who confessed to the sexual assault, is accused of molesting the victim over a period of five to six years, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim is now a teenager.

In court documents filed Sept. 13, prosecutors alleged Huddleston “had a history” of assaulting the victim..

Huddleston’s reported confession was to “to justify” to the victim’s father saying he assaulted the victim “because he was overweight and could never get a girlfriend,” according to the arrest affidavit. He also exposed himself to the victim on numerous occasions, the affidavit states.

Huddleston is free on $110,000 bail and is a student at the University of Oklahoma.
