“The best way to enjoy fishing is to feel it”
Last week I talked about the winning weight of the Bassmaster Open at 50 lbs over 3 days.
Hang on, the local folks fishing the Nichols Marine Team Tournament did even better last weekend with a winning weight of 40 lbs in 2 days and 24 teams weighed in limits, 10 fish. Black bass fishing is good, and if you want to try your luck with ABC fish (Already Been Caught) drop a line in Wolf Creek.
Recent rain has kept the lake level around 744’, but summer won’t let go and the surface temperatures remain in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Overall water color is good, and depending on what you like to fish the entire palate is available.
We had some excellent black bass outings swimming Biffle bugs around certain breakwaters south. White bass are plentiful and schooling between Governors Island and Blackberry Island. Toss surface baits when they’re boiling and go to a spoon, gay blade, or Little George when it stops,
Spoonbill fishing is turning on. I recommend hiring one of the local guides for a trip you won’t forget.
Until next time, keep your bait in the water. Clint Baranowski
