Her philanthropic efforts benefited the public school system, the scouting program as well as many other organizations throughout the community. As the first woman to ever serve on the Grove Public School Board, Haltermann, was recognized for her passion for education.

A deep interest in leadership and civic responsibility led Norma to become involved in politics. She was a Republican in Delaware County when there were but a handful, and her tireless efforts had a formative influence on the growth of the party. She helped build the Delaware County Women’s Club from the ground up.

Devoted to providing quality medical care for her family’s community, Norma devoted many hours to the Integris Hospital Foundation Board. Her strong conviction that a “good hospital was the key to the growth of Grove,” Norma helped raise funds for the current state of the art medical center.

Delaware County Republicans wish to continue her legacy with this memorial scholarship for students who care about their community and wish to “give back.”
