The Lady Red competed at the Dewey Tournament on Thursday, August 29. The Lady Red went 3-0 in pool play and were slated to play in the championship game against an opponent yet to be determined but were unable to play due to rain. The tournament games on Friday were also canceled due to rain. The Lady Red are now 9-3 on the season before Tuesday's doubleheader against Stilwell.

Grove 6, Dewey 1

The Lady Red faced the tournament hosts in their first game of the tournament. Laken Malone struck out 11 Lady Bulldoggers in the 5.0 innings she pitched. Malone gave up one run on five hits and three walks.

The Lady Red started their scoring in the second inning when they plated five. Anastacia Pace lead the inning off with a bunt single out in front of the plate. Lauren Outhier followed it up with a sacrifice bunt moving Pace to second. Dawn Blake bunted for a hit to third base to put runners on first and third. Cayden Hollinsworth followed with a swinging bunt single.

Dewey threw the ball away allowing both runners to score on the play. Zoie Salkill hit a hard ground ball and reached on an error by the shortstop. Ava Sarwinski walked to load the bases. Elizabeth Cash doubled to right scoring two and Malone singled to left bringing in the fifth run of the inning.

Sarwinski, Cash, Malone, Pace, Blake, Hollinsworth, and Salkill all ended up with one hit each for the Lady Red. Sarwinski and Pace both drew two walks as well.

Grove 9, Caney Valley 1

After winning the first game of the day, the Lady Red called on senior Mikalle Pair to pitch the second game against Caney Valley. Pair threw a strong game earning the win in 6.0 innings. Pair allowed one run on just three hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts.

The Lady Red offense started to come alive in this game foreshadowing what was to come in the days finale. Sarwinski had two hits including a double. Cash had a double with two runs scored. Malone had two hits and three runs batted in. Pair walked twice and her courtesy runner, Alex Crittenden, scored three runs. Pace singled and drove in two runs. Hollinsworth had a hit. Sage Jackson, Emily Blaine, and Jacie Pair all drew a walk in the game.

Grove 18, Barnsdall 0

The Lady Red offense went berserk in the final game of the day scoring 12 runs in the game’s first inning. They followed it up with six in the bottom of the second inning before the game was called due to the three inning mercy rule. Every Lady Red player got an at bat in the game and many celebrated reaching base.

Laken Malone started on the mound and threw a no-hitter in the run shortened game. Malone threw 3.0 innings facing the minimum of nine hitters when the Lady Red turned a 6-4-3 double play. Malone struck out seven of the nine hitters she faced and walked one. Malone then helped out her cause when she hit a line drive home run to left field and drove in six runs as a hitter.

Sarwinski walked and scored twice. Mikalle Pair had a hit and scored two runs. Cash didn’t record an official at bat, but was walked twice and scored. Pace had two runs batted in and a hit. Outhier had a hit and two runs driven in. Blake, Hollinsworth, and Salkill each scored a run as well. Blaine had a hit. Maci Jackson was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Crittenden scored twice and had a single. Lily Jackson walked and scored a run. Kaylee Shepherd also had a hit and scored a run.
