The Jay Lady Bulldogs hosted the Berryhill Lady Chiefs in softball on Thursday, August 29.
The Lady Chiefs arrived with a 1 -7 record to go against the Lady Bulldogs 1-2 record, so it should have been a fight to the finish, but not so.
The Lady Bulldogs fell 9 to 0 in a heart breaking loss.
Coach Mike Moore said "Got to go back and work on our swings, three hits will not win games."
During the first three innings, neither team was able to put a run on the board.
However, in the top of the fourth, a couple of missed catches allowed Berryhill to break lose and score six runs.
Jay was able to get a runner to third base a couple of times in the game, but were left on base without scoring.
Coach Moore called a timeout during the six-run inning and the Lady Bulldogs settled down and returned to playing their game, again keeping the Lady Chiefs from scoring for two innings.
At the top of the seventh, Berryhill added three more runs on a couple of defensive errors.
Moore commented the girls will need to "be a little more athletic defensively."
The Lady Bulldogs next home game will be September 3 against the Oologah Lady Mustangs.
