The State Tournament was held in Oklahoma City on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11. The Ridgerunners were able to accrue nineteen points as a team to tie Henryetta for third. Ada would take home the title with thirty-two points, followed by Crossings Christian, who earned twenty-four.

1 Singles - Senior Kenny Wright started the tournament hot, defeating Brandon Nottingham of Chickasha 6-0, 6-0. In his second match, Wright played Metro Christian’s Max Moody, who kept it close in the first match, but would fall away in the second. Wright won 7-6, 6-2. In the semi-finals, Wright lost to Christian Siegle of Ada 2-6, 1-6. In the third place match, Wright defeated Caleb Hughey 6-0, 6-2, to win third place.

2 Singles - Senior Silas Rosiere defeated his first opponent, Ethan Worley of Classen SAS, 6-0, 6-3. In the second round, Rosiere fell to Henryetta’s Jordan Knox, 0-6, 3-6. Rosiere would bounce back and sweep Regent Prep’s Noah Muckey, 6-0, 6-0. This pitted Rosiere against Grant Graham of Elk City. The two would battle, with Rosiere winning the first match 6-1, but falling in the next two 3-6, 2-6. This put Rosiere in the seventh place match against Perry’s Mitchell Hartwig. Rosiere defeated Hartwig via walkover, as Hartwig was unable to play the match, giving Rosiere the seventh place win.

1 Doubles - Seniors Braden Wadley and Mason Allen defeated Graham Clark and Parker Dillon of Crossings Christian 6-0, 6-0. The duo followed their first win with another over Byng’s Gage Hatcher and Jake Taylor, with a score of 6-3, 6-1. Wadley and Allen lost their first set to Henrietta’s Keaton Lollis and Colten Wion 4-6, but came back in the second and third to win the match 6-2, 6-2. This put Wadley and Allen in the championship game against Ada’s R. Siegle and Swopes. Grove would lose the first set 4-6. Wadley and Allen would fight in the second set, but would fall 6-7, finishing in second place.

2 Doubles - Colin Rowton and Lincoln Wright faced Pauls Valleys’ Joshua Gutierrez Luke Hamilton. After a first match loss of 5-7, Grove played hard and won 6-4, 6-4. Rowton and Wright fell to Elk City’s Dillan Pate and Will Thompson 4-6, 4-6. Rowton and Wright then won two by defeating Anadarko’s team of Painter and Taylor, 6-3, 6-1 and Byng’s Kaden Glimore and Ryan Garcia 6-1, 6-4. Those wins put the duo into the fifth place game against Regent Preparatory. Regent Prep’s team Cade Anderson and Jarrett Smith was no match for Rowton and Wright, who won the match 6-4, 6-1 to win fifth.

This concludes the 2019 season for the Ridgerunner tennis team.
