A job fair will take place from noon to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce, 11 South Main, Miami.
Interested job seekers may visit with approximately 20 area employers and staffing agencies hiring for full- and part-time opportunities.
The fair is free and open to all interested job seekers who are advised to bring their resumes and to dress professionally to meet employers, recruiters, and staffing agencies.
Companies scheduled to attend include: Arvest, Bagcraft, City of Miami, Discovery Plastics, The Don Hume Company, LLC, Downstream, Express, Hopkins, INTEGRIS Miami, J-M Farms, J-M Foods, KMT, Penmac, State Farm, SMX, Tracker Marine, Welch State Bank, Windridge and Oklahoma Works.
Paul Marquez, program manager at the Miami Workforce Center in Miami, wants the public to also be aware of two grants that are available now.
One is sponsored by the Cherokee Nation Career Services called the National Dislocated Worker Grant and is open to those who are laid off or unemployed from the retail industry, need school tuition to help start a new career in health care, manufacturing, construction or tourism/hospitality, need support with required expenses for work or class, or want to learn on-the-job now.

This grant is available to residents of Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata and Ottawa Counties, in addition to other counties in the state. Tribal citizenship is not required.
The other grant is sponsored by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and is called the Economic Transition Dislocated Worker Program.
It is for those who are unemployed from the oil and gas industry or energy sector, need help paying for school in order to start a new career, or who sometimes needs help paying for books, fees, and gas to get to class.
