Wake up the Garden
Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to Lendonwood Gardens to help “Wake Up the Garden” on Saturday, April 6. The annual spring workday is designed to help prepare the botanical garden for the tourist season. Note: the original workday, on March 30, was canceled due to inclement weather.
Specific projects will include mulching flower beds, staining benches and fences, painting, repairing signs, planting new plants, dividing daffodils, installing a greenhouse cover, building fence, installing pathway pavers, picking up downed branches and weeding, among other tasks.
Volunteers are asked to gather at 8:30 a.m. by the barn at the back of the garden for donuts, provided by Harps Food Store, and coffee. Tools for the various projects will be available on site, although volunteers should bring their gloves and wear comfortable work clothes.
Lunch will be provided, including cookies provided by Grand Wood Assisted Living. The workday usually concludes at about 2 p.m., but any amount of volunteer time is appreciated, Reynolds said.
