Parents or guardians with pre-k or kindergarteners may begin enrolling them for the 2019-20 school year on Monday, April 8, at the Grove Early Childhood Center.
The process, which opens on Monday, April 8, is designed to provide a convenient way to register new pre-kindergarten or kindergarten students for the upcoming school year, according to ECC Principal Julie Bloss.
Enrollment packets may be picked up from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parents/guardians may take the packet with them, to complete at a later time, or fill it out at the school on the same day.
Bloss said she encourages parents/guardians to complete the enrollment process as soon as possible. Enrollment for the upcoming school year, especially for pre-k students, will continue to be on a first-come, first-served basis.
During the process for both pre-k students and new kindergarteners, parents/guardians will be required to provide a copy of their child's birth certificate, immunization record, social security card and proof of residency.
Proof of residency may include a gas or electric bill with the family's permanent address displayed. A CDIB card may be provided if applicable.
Only packets that are complete will be accepted for the enrollment process.
For new pre-kindergarteners, students must be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2019. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 138 students that enroll.
Parents/guardians of new pre-k students may pick up an enrollment packet at the ECC office from 9 a.m.to 2:30 p.m., each week day, beginning Monday, April 8.
Bloss said parents/guardians "are strongly" urged to fill out their student's enrollment packet and return it to the ECC as quickly as possible to ensure a spot in next year’s program.
She said all pre-k students will be required to attend a school screening before entrance which will be scheduled by school staff with the parent.
Only packets that are fully complete will be accepted. Once the program is full, children will be placed upon a waiting list.
Students who are currently enrolled in pre-kindergarten program at the ECC will automatically be enrolled in kindergarten in the fall.
