Henry William Martin, age 85, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away at home on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Henry was born on August 3, 1933 in Jay, Oklahoma, to the late Alton Martin and Velma Martin. He grew up as the eldest of four and graduated from High School in Santa Ana, California in 1951. He then joined the United States Navy on August 30, 1951, achieved the rank of Second Class Petty Officer and served in the Korean War. During his service he met and married Mary L. Bickert on June 8, 1956. Together they had four children.

After leaving the Navy and getting married, Henry went to work as a Desk Manager and Bowling Instructor in San Francisco, California, to Senior Correctional Officer in Alcatraz, California, Lewisburg. P.A, and Terminal  Island in Longbeach, California. Next he worked at the L.A. Times as a Print Setter in CA, then was a Pig Farmer in Sweet, Idaho, to owning a Vacuum and Sewing Machine Business in Garden Grove, California, then owning a Blood Culture Business in Orange, California, and last he joined the Post Office as a Mail Carrier in Carrollton, Texas, and moved to the branch as a Clerk in Joplin, Missouri.  When Henry retired he was living in Grove, Oklahoma. 

He is survived by four children: Catherine Wilson and husband Douglas of Mira Loma, California, Richard Martin and wife Karen of Hatton, North Dakota, Heidi Lansdowne and husband Phil of Argyle, Texas, and Laurie McAreavey of Las Vegas, Nevada. Five grandchildren: Thomas Stevens, Jeremy Martin, Justin Lansdowne, Jacquelyn Lansdowne, Gannon McAreavey, three great grandchildren; siblings Harvey Martin of Emmett, Idaho,  Darlene Leush of Emmett, Idaho, and Harlan Martin of Grove, Oklahoma. 

The family will greet friends and family from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 28, 2019 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma. Cremation Burial will be March 29,, 2019 Olympus North Cemetery at 3 p.m.
