The Grove Ridgerunners opened up their playoff schedule by playing the district game against Miami on Friday, Feb. 15 in Grove.

Unfortunately for the Ridgerunners, Miami was able to take advantage of a big third quarter and seal the win 51-40.

The loss dropped the Ridgerunners to the consolation bracket where one loss will end their season.

The Ridgerunners do play a regular season game against Skiatook on Monday, Feb. 19.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but the weather forecast convinced both teams to move the game in an effort to guarantee safer travel. The Ridgerunners defeated Skiatook 44-39 on Dec. 15 in the Sperry Tournament but lost to Skiatook 46-44 at home on Jan. 18.

The Ridgerunners will continue playoff games at 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, when they face host Catoosa in the consolation bracket. The game is an elimination game.

The Ridgerunners and the Wardogs were tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Wardogs ran an overload offense against the Ridgerunner zone. They relied on ball movement to stretch the zone and create open shot. For the Ridgerunners offense, they had to rely on their other four players as Miami played a full court denial Zane Knox almost taking him entirely out of the offense.

The score was still 21-20 in favor of Miami at half time. Wrangler Beal hit a three-pointer just after the third quarter began giving the Ridgerunners a 23-21 lead. It was their last lead of the game.

Miami continued to shoot at an absurdly high percentage throughout the quarter while forcing the Ridgerunners into a lot of one and done possessions. The third quarter was the difference in the game as Miami outscored the Ridgerunners 16-5 during the frame.

Wrangler Beal lead the Ridgerunners in scoring by putting up 13 points. Beal also had 3 rebounds and 1 steal.

Chat Hayes had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Aason Cross had 5 points and 1 steal. Cross gave the Ridgerunners an early lead when he hit his first shot, a three-pointer, to put his team up 3-0.

Braden Pittman had 4 points, 1 rebound, and 5 steals.

Colin Rowton had 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal.

Hank Hacker had 3 points and 1 assist.

Zane Knox had 2 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Colin Craig had 2 points and 1 assist.

Miami shoot an extraordinary 60.7 percent compared to the Ridgerunners 37.8 percent.

The Ridgerunners made 5 of 21 three-point attempts while Miami made 6 of 9 three-pointers. The Ridgerunners only made 1 of 4 free throws while Miami shot 18 and made 10 of them.

The Ridgerunners committed 17 fouls compared to only 6 from Miami.
