Cheers, laughter and a bit of good-natured ribbing filled the air of the Grove Middle School gymnasium on Thursday, Jan. 31, as the first (and hopefully annual) COW Week Donkey Basketball Tournament got underway.
The event, the first for the 2019 COW (Changing Our World) Week, was designed to begin the fundraising efforts for this year's charity beneficiary, DCCSAN (Delaware County Children's Special Advocacy Network).
The event included teams from Grove Police and Fire Departments, Grand Savings and First National Bank, as well as a matchup between teachers throughout the district.
While event totals were not disclosed (Grove High School students save it for the big reveal at the end of COW Week), organizers said attendance exceeded expectations.
Organizers even "rolled out" the visitor side seating at the gym, which has not been utilized for almost 20 years.
The this week's events for COW Week include the ROK The Runway set for 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Church of the Shepherd (COS) and the CornHole Tournament set to start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the high school gymnasium.
A complete list of COW Week events maybe found on the Sunspots page inside today's issue of the paper.
