Robert “Bob” Carey Blythe passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on January 15, 2019 in Plano, Texas. He was 84 years old and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was born on September 7, 1934 in Dwight, Kan., the fifth of eight children born to Cephus Carey and Lottie May (Weston) Blythe. After growing up in Kansas, he relocated to Grove, Okla. in 1970 with his then spouse, Alice (Evans) and two sons, Steve and Chris. Bob owned and operated Sunrise Sanitation Service, which served the Grand Lake area, from 1972 to 2001.

On May 3, 1979 Bob married Joan Crouse and they settled into their lakeside retreat in Grove, Okla. Bob was active in the communities he lived, serving as an Under Sheriff in Council Grove, Kan. and on the Grove Rural Fire Department Board of Trustees.

Bob never met a stranger and truly enjoyed showing everyone around him a good time. Over the years he spent countless hours on Grand Lake teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and water ski. He was known for making and sharing excellent chocolate pie. He loved to play cards, take road trips, and drink his morning coffee on the porch as the sun rose. But what he enjoyed most of all was telling a good story over a meal with those he cared about.

He is survived by his loving wife Joan Blythe; their combined children, Steven (Cindy) Blythe (Burlingame, Kan.), Christopher (Nancy) Blythe (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.), Erin (Dale) Bonner (Dallas, Texas), David (Sara) Link (Plano, Texas), and Susan Hammond (Lexington, Ken.); his siblings Andrew Blythe (Council Grove, Kan.)Audra Wehling (Longmont, Colo.) and Cecil (Laynetta) Blythe (Thornton, Colo.); and his six grandchildren; Phil (Bonan) Link, Suzanna (Matthew) Cubit, Amber (Michael) Nattrass, Ashley (Gregory) Haverstock, Chantelle Haas, Breogan Link and 13 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded by his parents and siblings Elaine Blanton, Sara Kerstetter, Bill Blythe and Donald Blythe.
