Mark Lynn Rogers, 61, a longtime Miami resident passed away in Langley, Okla. He was born on December 2, 1957 in Pryor to Jim Dean Rogers and Wanda Jean (Purseley) Rogers. Mark graduated with the Miami High School Class of 1976. He then went on to graduate from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and then Missouri Southern. Mark was known for his infectious smile and his very well known laugh. Mark was very involved with the Jaycees, Miami Main Street, was the treasurer for the Miami Little Theater, he was a chamber ambassador along with being active with the Coleman Beautiful Project and the Dobson Museum. Mark worked at the Miami News Record for twenty-eight years working mostly in their advertising department. Although he ventured out some and was ask to write special pieces often, one of those most recently and very popular was his movers and shakers column.
Mark was preceded in passing by his mother Wanda Rogers, a sister Terri Denise Rogers his grandparents and his very close friend Larry Roberts.
Survivors include his parents Jim and Jerry A. Rogers of Pryor, his sister Kathy Scott and her husband Randy and his many friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Mark at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Miami with Pastors Jeff and Ronnie Rogers officiating. Interment will be a private service at a later date.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to OKERT in care of the funeral home or to the Coleman Beautiful.
