Multiple seats will be up for grabs for area school boards when the filing period opens for the Feb. 12, 2019 election.

The period, where candidates will file their Declarations of Candidacy begins at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 3, and continues on both Tuesday, and Wednesday, Dec. 4 and 5, at the Delaware County Election Board office in Jay.

The office is located at 225 South Fifth Street in Jay. 

The primary election is set for Feb. 12, 2019, while the general election is set for Tuesday, April 2.

If only two candidates file, the position will be filled during the general election in April. If more than two candidates file, the primary election will take place in February. 

If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in the primary, the two candidates receiving the  highest number of votes will meet in the general election.
