The Convention and Tourism Bureau approved combining meetings for November and December and holding the final meeting of the year in December.
The board approved during the Oct. 25 meeting, to hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Grove Community Center, Room 5.
In a related matter, the board approved a meeting schedule for 2019 where the board’s monthly meeting will be held the fourth Thursday at every month at 2 p.m. No meeting will take place in November 2019, and the December 2019 meeting will be on December 12.
The board entered two, three-party agreements with FLW, LLC. The first agreement is for the 2019 T-H Marine Bass Fishing League Regional Fishing Tournament and the second agreement with for the Bassmaster 2019 Open Series. In an earlier meeting, the board agreed to sponsoring 45 and 49 rooms respectively.
The Grove City Council is the other party in the two agreements.
The board also approved an agreement with the City of Miami for leasing space in the Northeast Oklahoma Travel Information Center. The travel center has a kiosk, photographs displayed on a big screen TV and rack cards.
The board also learned the Spyder Riding Group from Bartlesville is holding a Jamboree Oct. 3 to 5. Executive Director Brent Malone said the event is expected to bring 150 Spyder vehicles to Grove.
In financial matters, City Manager Bill Keefer addressed the board members on the continued decline in the Lodging Tax revenue.
The Lodging Tax netted $6,758.39 for August’s receipts, a 26.6 decrease from the year before. In the past four months, the tax has been running over 25 percent in the red in three of the four months, according to city documents.
Should the revenue continue to decline the board members will evaluate and prioritize spending expenditures, Keefer said.
The board spent $1,282.91 in salaries; $200 in contract services and $ 37.79 in miscellaneous expenses, according to city records.
