The Ridgerunners football team was on the road against this week competing at Bristow losing 27-63.
This brings the Ridgerunners to 2-5 in their season and will be facing Cleveland at their next game on Thursday, Oct. 18 at home.
The Bristow Pirates scored in the first 45 seconds of the game with a failed PAT and was held by the Ridgerunners until quarterback Greg McCurdy scored with 3:37 left in the first quarter and a failed PAT.
The Pirates managed to score two more touchdowns in the first quarter leaving Grove trailing 6-20.
In the second Bristow score to start with Kadian Forbis scoring a touchdown on a seven-yard run followed by another Bristow touch down.
This ended the half 13-34 with Grove behind.
The remaining second half of the game continued to see the Ridgerunners trail the Pirates.
Bristow scored two touchdowns each quarter to Grove’s one.
McCurdy brought in both of the touchdowns scored in the second quarter which was not enough for the Ridgerunners to stop the bleeding.
Grove ended the game against the undefeated Bristow 27-63.
Forbis racked up a total of 45 yards in pass receptions followed by Jonas Chaney with a total of 20.
For rushing Nick Estrada saw 111 yards followed by Forbis with 91 and McCurdy with 80.
Quarterback McCurdy finished the night with 71 yards passing completing seven of 18 attempts.
Bristow has promised to be a difficult team of the Ridgerunners to face having been undefeated at the start of the game.
With the boy’s home for the week they will face Cleveland who is currently 4-3 in their season.
Cleveland recently lost to Bristow 28-55 and should present a good but beatable challenge for the Ridgerunners.
With just three games left in the season the boys will have to win at least two more to have a shot at the playoffs.
