Betty Lou Phillips, just a few months shy of 91, passed away from this life peacefully on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.
Betty, a longtime resident of Grove, was born on Nov. 17, 1927 in Okmulgee, to parents Samuel and Lola Banks.
In her early years, Betty made a living as a cosmetologist, where she touched the lives of many of her clients.
Upon retirement, Betty moved to Grove, where she spent much of her time with her grandchildren and enjoyed being an active member amongst her church community.
Aside from her contagious smile, Betty was best known for being an extravagant cook in which she often blessed her family and friends with phenomenal meals and delicious treats.
Betty was the mother of the late Sam Parton, a beloved former teacher at Grove High School.
Surviving Betty Phillips is her adored grandson, Curtis Parton and his wife Kaley of Tahlequah, and dear granddaughter, Mackenzie Hopper and her husband Harvey as well as their two children, Maximus and Susannah of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Betty also had a wonderful niece, Vickey Vassaur and her husband Larry of Shawnee, as well as many other family friends.
A Celebration of Life ceremony in honor of Betty will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Bell Mansion, Betty's former home, in Weleetka, Oklahoma for family and close friends. Friends may send flowers to Bell Mansion, 508 E 9th St, Weleetka, Oklahoma 74880.
