Changes are coming to this year's Grand Lake's Most Inspirational Woman competition.

Rather than honor one woman, as in the past, this year we plan to highlight two individuals who make a difference within the Grand Lake region.

The nominations will be open for two categories: women 40 years and younger, and women 41 and above.

The Grove Sun staff will honor the winners during the 2018 Grand Lake Women's Expo, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Grove Civic Center.

Cheryl Franklin, publisher, said people are are encouraged to submit the name of a woman who is most inspirational.

"Women do not need to be a well-known, public figures," Franklin said. "Many women are quite the inspiration and remain behind the scenes in the community.

"We're looking for women who use their resources and gifts to help others."

To nominate someone for the inspirational woman competition, persons are asked to submit the nominee's name and information on the contest entry page at The deadline to submit a nominee is Friday, Sept. 7.

To nominate a person, individuals are asked to submit contact information for both themselves and the nominee. Persons are also asked to submit an explanation (up to 250 words long) as to why he or she finds the nominee to be inspirational.

Women nominated must live within the Grand Lake region and must be available to be at the women's fair on Oct. 6. Interviews with the nominated women, and the winners, will be completed in the weeks prior to the event.

Once the nominations are compiled, public voting to determine the most inspirational woman, will open on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and continue until Friday, Sept. 21. The winner will be revealed in the Oct. 5 issue of The Grove Sun.

Vendor space is still available and may be reserved by completing a form at Those with non-profits within the Grand Lake region are encouraged to register, free of charge.
