Students in the Grove FFA attended the JAKES event south of Grove on Stand Waite Road, on Saturday, June 9.

JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge Ethics and Sportsmanship) is designed to teach area youth a wide variety of outdoor activities from shooting sports to rock wall climbing and more.

“I’m very proud of the Grove FFA members who assisted with the event," said Garrett Bergman, chapter advisor. "They truly enjoyed mentoring and educating youth about outdoor recreational activities.”

Grove FFA members had the opportunity to assist with the following activities: the fish pond, bounce house and recreational activity safety.

“I really enjoyed helping kids appreciate nature and teaching them how to fish," said Lauren Chaney. "It was truly a relaxing day, in which children received the opportunity to remove themselves from electronic devices and gain skills that could last them a lifetime.”
