Larry Shelton, lifetime Miami Area resident, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 in Miami.
Larry was born on Sept. 1, 1937 in Miami, to Hershel and Georgia (Green) Shelton.
He graduated from Miami High School in 1955. In 1956 he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country.
Larry worked for many years as a construction foreman for Southwestern Bell. On Nov. 7, 1982 Larry married Judi Cantrell in Miami. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed crappie fishing.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Julie Thompson, and a brother David Shelton.
Larry is survived by his wife Judi of the home; two sons Hershall Shelton and wife Mariel of Virginia, and Jon Shelton of Fairland; a daughter Jeania Souter of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three siblings: Ann Foster and husband Pete of Miami, Alan Shelton of Grove, and Phyllis Brumley and husband Dan of Wyandotte.
Larry is also survived by numerous grandchildren and other family members.
Services for Larry took place on Tuesday, May 1, at First Christian Church in Miami, with Pastor Brian Brubaker officiating. Notes of encouragement for the family may be left at www.brown-winters.com
