Ridgerunners soccer season is off to full swing with their first district games already in the books.
Both the Ridgerunners boys and girls played Tuesday, March 13 at home coming away with wins.
The Lady Ridgerunners won their game against Pawhuska in a resounding 3-0 victory.
The girls scored early on with 23:34 remaining on the clock during the first half of play and were able to hold the advantage till the break.
After returning from the half the Lady Ridgerunners were able to put two more consecutive scores on the books cementing their lead over the Lady Huskies.
Prior to their first district game against Pawhuska the Lady Ridgerunners held three early season games.
Their first game was against Will Rogers with a 5-1 victory over the 5A school on March 2.
They girls also faced off against Westville who they defeated 1-0 in overtime and against Locust Grove with a 2-0 victory.
This gives the Lady Ridgerunners a strong start to their season with a 4-0 record and will see them on the road at Commerce at 5:30 Wednesday, March 15 before the paper goes to print.
The next home game won’t be until after spring break and will be against Siloam Springs at 5:30 p.m. on March 26.
The Ridgerunners boy’s soccer team also won their game on Tuesday, March 13 at home against Catoosa 3-2.
This game unlike the girls was not a district game which will start on March 15 against Commerce.
The Ridgerunners had a come from behind victory against Catoosa after falling behind on the scoreboard early in the game 0-1.
They boys tied up the points with 20 minutes remaining in the first half of play.
They regrouped at the break and were able to gain a 2-1 lead over the Indians midway through the second half.
The Indians were able to break through the Ridgerunners defense and score a tying goal with 14:37 left on the clock bringing the match to 2-2.
The Ridgerunners pressed their offense and were able to score the winning shot with just over eight minutes left on the clock.
Their win over Catoosa brings their season to 3-1 overall.
Their first match against Will Rogers was their only lose of the season 0-3 but they Ridgerunners turned around and beat out Westville 6-1.
Going off their momentum against Westville the Ridgerunners were able to defeat Locust Grove 10-0.
With just the one loss under their belt the boys will start district play against Commerce March 15 following the girls game.
They will also return home to play Siloam Springs on March 26 after spring break.
