The Delaware County commissioners approved paying over $3,800 to three elected officials that were not compensated properly.

Caroline Weaver, Court Clerk, was paid $945.81 for 93 hours, Treasurer Susan Duncan was paid $666 for 40 hours and Assessor Larena Cook was paid $2,199.54 for 123.5 hours, with the total $3,811.35, said Vicki Cossairt, Human Resources Director.

The monies need to be ran on two separate accounts so they can be identified they are not part of the regular payroll, but still part of the payroll accounting, she said.

The commissioners agreed to pay the monies on the April 1 payroll.

County elected officials that were previously employed with the county as regular employees accumulated sick and vacation time, explained County Clerk Barbara Barnes after the meeting.

When these employees became elected officials the accumulated time wasn’t paid, Barnes said. The payout was needed to make correct the mistake.

In other financial matters, the commissioners approved paying a $4,104 invoice from the Craig County Sheriff’s Office for housing 12 inmates, a $1,9111 invoice from the Office of Juvenile Affairs and $14,350 as an installment payment for the Tia Juana Fire Department for a building addition.

The commissioners also approved transferring $66,000 from one account to another in the Cox Tower Road project in District No. 3 $220,000 from one account to another in the Piney Road project in District No. 2.

The commissioners also approved a modification agreement for county bridge over Crazy Creek in District No. 3.

A proposal over a lease purchase agreement with Ford Motor Company was tabled.

Delaware County Assistant District Attorney Nick Lelecas said he needed to talk to the auditor before the commissioners could approve the agreement.

The next meeting is 9 a.m. Monday, March 19 at the Delaware County Courthouse in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting room.
