The Lady Ridgerunners are 13-2 in their season after two wins over Skiatook and Glenpool.

Grove was on the road at Skiatook on Jan. 26 for their first win of the weekend 46-24 over the Lady Bulldogs.

It was nearly halfway through the first quarter before Skiatook put the first score on the board answered immediately by the Lady Ridgerunners.

Skiatook held a two-point lead over the girls until the last minutes of the quarter when Grove took the lead finishing 11-6 at the end of the quarter.

The Ridgerunners continued to press the lead over the Lady Bulldogs finishing the first half of play with a 26-14 lead.

The girls came out from the half continuing to pull ahead of Skiatook finishing the third quarter 36-19.

With the final score of 46-24 it gives the Lady Ridgerunners another win on their belt.

The girls shot an effective field goal percentage, eFG, of 27.8 percent for the night compared to 31.9 by Skiatook.

The Lady Ridgerunners made 13/45 two-point attempts over 7/22 by the Lady Bulldogs and show 11/18 or 61.1 percent from the line as compared to 1/1 by Skiatook.

They girls had a strong night getting 26 offensive rebounds and 19 steals which greatly contributed to their win.

Top shooters of the night were Rory Geer with 15 points followed by Macee Barnes with 10 and Cheyenne Tanner with eight.

The girls turned around to play another game on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Glenpool winning 52-9.

The game quickly showed a strong favoritism to the Lady Ridgerunners taking a 18-0 lead by the end of the first quarter didn’t see a field goal from Glenpool until the second quarter.

The first half of play ended at 30-1 with a strong commanding lead by the Lady Ridgerunners.

It was during the second half of play that Lady Ridgerunners Coach Bassett chose to bring in his bench to give his younger players much needed practice.

After the third quarter ended 50-8 the Lady Ridgerunners played substituted in all of their younger players led by season played Mikalle Pair finishing with a 52-9 win.

Early in the game the girls showed significant skill stealing the ball seeming every minute of play finishing the night with 18 steals, 20 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive rebounds.

Grove also had a strong shooting night earning an eFG of 37.7 compared to 4.3 by Glenpool.

The Lady Ridgerunners put down 20/44 two-point shots and went 9/10 at the line compared Glenpool’s 0/24 two pointers and 6/10 at the line.

Top scorers for the night were Geer with 18, Macee Barnes with 13 points followed by Tanner with six points.

The Lady Ridgerunners will play at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Tahlequah for what is expected to be a difficult game.

The girls lost to Tahlequah earlier in the season 56-64 but have a strong chance to pull out a win at the 12-6 team for their second face off, of the season.
