The 2018 Spring Livestock Show season kicks off this weekend, as the first of three local shows take place.

The shows, which include the Jay FFA/4-H Chapter Show, the Delaware County 4-H Livestock Show, and the Grove FFA/4-H Chapter Show, lead up to the Delaware County Livestock Show, set for Wednesday, Feb. 28 to Saturday, March 3.

All of the shows take place at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, located between Jay and Grove on Highway 59/10.

Jay FFA/4-H Chapter Show

The Jay FFA/4-H Chapter Show takes place on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The barn will open at 8 a.m., with the check-in/weigh-in times set for noon to 1 p.m.

The show starts at 1 p.m., with the order as follows: goats, sheep, cattle, swine.

In each species division, a senior and junior showmanship contest will take place.

Delaware County 4-H Livestock Show

The county 4-H livestock show takes place on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The show opens at 11 a.m., with the dairy, and then the order is as follows: beef, sheep, goats, swine. A showmanship competition for all species will also take place.

Grove FFA/4-H Chapter Show

The Grove FFA/4-H Chapter show is set for Saturday, Feb. 17.

The event will open with check in at 9 a.m., the showmanship class at 10 a.m., the special olympics show at 11 a.m., and then the livestock show at noon.

The show order includes goats, sheep, cattle and swine.

A "rookie showmanship" competition will take place following the livestock show. Nominations may be made for $1 each, and $5 buy-outs are available.

DelCo Spring Livestock Show

The county spring livestock show, for all 4-H and FFA showmen, takes place from Wednesday, Feb. 28 to Saturday, March 3.

The four-day event begins on Wednesday, Feb. 28, with the beef show at 5 p.m.

The goats, sheep and swine shows take place beginning at 3 p.m., on Thursday, March 1. Showmanship competitions will follow each species show.

The premium bidders lunch takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, March 2, with the premium sale to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the show arena.
