Homecoming 2016 for Grove High School takes place on Friday, Oct. 7.

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with a GHS Homecoming Candidate VIP reception in the library at Grove High School. After the reception the candidates will rehearse for the coronation at the high school practice field.

Parade

The parade kicks off the public events at 1 p.m.

Carol Pritchard, long-time teacher within the Grove Public School system, and Grove's first kindergarten teacher, has been tapped by students to serve as the grand marshal for this year's parade.

The parade route begins at the Grove Community Building, 104 West Third, Grove, travels down Third to Main Street, then turns on 10th Street to travel in front of the middle and lower elementary schools, then to Leisure Road to pass in front of the early childhood center. It will then turn down Seventh Street, and end behind Ridgerunner Stadium.

Additional activities for students, including a pep assembly for middle and high school students, will take place following the parade at Ridgerunner Stadium.

Due to the renovation of the stadium, the class parade floats and the grand marshal car are no longer driven into the stadium.

Coronation

The evening events will begin at 6 p.m., when the candidates gather at Ridgerunner Stadium. A photo backdrop will be in place, behind the home stands, near the snack bar. A time for photos will also be available after the coronation.

Homecoming candidates are asked to meet on the north side (visitor's side) of the field by 6:15 p.m.

The homecoming ceremony will begin shortly thereafter, at approximately 6:35 p.m., with kickoff for the Grove vs. Oologah football game set for 7 p.m.

Family and friends of homecoming candidates are encouraged to be in the stands no later than 6:15 p.m., in order to not miss the coronation ceremony.
