Seven years ago, Asia Bibi was arrested and found guilty of blasphemy in Pakistan. Asia is a Christian mother with two natural children and three adopted children.

Her crime was offering a drink of water to a Muslim, and explaining Jesus was alive.

In Pakistan, the blasphemy law allows even a single Muslim to accuse a Christian of blasphemy, and the Pakistani court will side with the testimony of the Muslim. The penalty for blasphemy is death by hanging.

Asia was tossed in prison, and her children have grown seven years without a mother. Asia’s husband has done his best to raise the children and avoid any trouble with radicals out to persecute Christians.

He, also, has had a long seven years with Asia waiting for an appeal. The one and only Christian elected to Pakistan’s parliament spoke out on Asia’s behalf many times, until he was shot dead for supporting Asia!

But there is some good news. During the past seven years, the Pakistani court system has grown weary of all the blasphemy cases, and they have started revising the blasphemy law.

The justices would like the law to include more evidence than just the word of one Muslim. This development may just be Asia’s saving grace. Asia has finally been granted an appeal for October. This is the final appeal.

Our prayers through the month of September and into October can make a difference in the outcome of Asia’s appeal.

Please pray for Asia, the judge, the lawyers, the corrupt court system in Pakistan, and for the divine intervention of God on Asia Bibi’s behalf. Let us do what we can to rescue our sister in Christ! Thank you so much for caring about others in the body of Christ!
