Theatre NEO will present the beloved children’s tale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ The story of Jack is one known by children the world over. Jack and his mother have fallen on hard times and are forced to sell their cow in order to have money for food. On his way to market, Jack encounters a man who offers to trade a handful of magic beans in exchange for Bossy, their cow. Jack makes the trade, returns home, and his mother is furious with him. She flings the beans out the window, and a beanstalk grows into the sky. Jack’s adventure is just beginning when he climbs his way up the beanstalk and into the world of the Giant.
Theatre NEO will present ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to the public on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and high school students. All NEO students, faculty and staff will be admitted at no cost with college identification.
The following students were cast in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’
The character Joan will be played by Hannah Hudson. A sophomore, Hudson is a health and physical education major. She is the daughter of Charles Hudson of Big Cabin.
Brett Robertson will play the role of Frihol. A speech and theatre major, Robertson is an NEO freshman. He is the grandson of Terry Craig of Miami.
J. David Duncan has been cast as Rafe Heywood. Duncan is a freshman speech and theatre major. He is the son of Andy Duncan of Miami.
The Widow will be played by Kassie Fugate. She is a mass communications major. A freshman, she is the daughter of Derrick Fugate of Miami.
Eric Sheckels has been cast as Jack. Sheckels is a speech and theatre major. A freshman, he is the son of David Sheckels of Vinita.
Sarah Burke is the Giant’s Wife. Burke is enrolled as a sophomore. She is the daughter of Joe and Polly Burke of Vinita.
The Harp will be played by Heather Colburn. Colburn has enrolled at NEO as a music major. She is a freshman and is the granddaughter of Pat Laney of Vinita.
