Grove freshman Payton Hill finished second in a pair of events at the Verdigris Valley Conference swim meet Tuesday, her final warmup before regionals.
Hill swam a season-best 31.37 to finish second in the 50-meter freestyle and also finished second in the 100-meter backstroke.
The 5A East Regional meet, which will be at the Jenks Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday, was originally scheduled for Feb. 7-8 but was pushed back a week because of wintry weather.
One result of the delay was the withdrawal of the Fort Gibson team from Tuesday’s conference meet.
“That was good and bad for Payton,” Grove swim coach Angel Hill said. “Good because she medaled in both events but bad because some of her fiercest competition wasn't present. It was kind of a double-edged sword.”
Regionals will begin on Friday in Jenks.
