GROVE – Scoring early and often, the Grove Ridgerunners dominated the Tulsa Central Braves 6-0 in soccer action at Ridgerunner Stadium Wednesday evening.
Oscar Flores had a hat trick and Jerrod Hayes added two goals as Grove improved to 3-7 and picked up their first district win of the season.
Hayes put the Ridgerunners on the board four minutes into the game when his shot from in front of the net trickled through the goalkeeper’s hands to put Grove up 1-0.
Flores doubled the Ridgerunners’ lead with his first goal of the night 10 minutes later when he took a feed from Anthony Krause and fired a low shot into the back corner of the net.
Flores put in his second goal of the night with 10 minutes left in the first half, giving Grove a 3-0 halftime lead.
Hayes put any thoughts of a Braves comeback to rest with as easy a goal as he’ll ever have eight minutes into the second half. After a Flores shot from right of the goal bounced of the keeper’s hands, Hayes found the ball on his foot less than five yards from a wide open goal for his second score of the night.
Flores earned his hat trick with a chip shot from 25 yards over a hard-charging Central goalkeeper to make the score 5-0 with 31 minutes left in the game.
With the Ridgerunners going to their bench, freshman Wes Swingle scored the final goal of the night, burying a shot in the corner of the net with 11 minutes left in the game.
Sophomore goalie Tyler Troppmamn earned his second shutout of the season, recording seven saves.
The Lady Ridgerunners received a forfeit due to the Central girls having too many ineligible players.
Both Grove soccer teams will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Skiatook for a district contest. Tuesday, April 19 will be the final home game of the season for Grove soccer, when they host Collinsville for Senior Night.
